Special potato recipe – “Midnight Orchid "

Categories:  Potatoes Recipes /

The appetizer uses color and texture of its various ingredients to create, symbolically, a purple orchid.
Violet lettuce leaves with blue potato slices (very expensive and appreciated in Switzerland and France) creates a dark background for the mysterious orchid, which only opens at midnight.
It is a design recipe created to bring a bit of imagination and fantasy to simple potato salad.
The recipe fits the style "floral cuisine" and may be offered as a gift for Romanian HolIday “Florii” for a refined and sophisticated person (as a royal orchid).
Ingredients:
-violet leaves of lettuce
-2 -1 blue potatoes
-Philadelphia cream cheese, or mozzarella
-dill, parsley, mint
-2 rocket leaves for each orchid

Make a mixture of cream cheese and finely chopped herbs. Peppermint fragrance will give a special olfactory note to the "orchid." If you don’t have cream cheese and herbs, use simple mozzarella, thin slices just like the potato ones.

Boil the whole potatoes. Peel them and cut them round slices after boiling.

Place lettuce on plate. The orchid that we are going to create has five petals, three upper and two lower arranged.
Place potato slices on the top three petals and center. Put one teaspoon of cream cheese on each slice of potato.
Finally, put the two rocket leaves in the center, around the potatoes.

Serve immediately after cooking. "Orchid" is a surprise appetizer so there’s no need for a bouquet, one flower can be enough.
Enjoy!
