Because today is Valentine's Day, I thought to propose a special recipe, on heart's theme. Besides the various chocolate boxes, muffins and other heart shaped cookies (which I'm sure you have prepared or already bought), what you say about an original steak, all with hearts?
The Brazilian cuisine offers us a delicious recipe, marinated chicken heart skewers are a delight. The marinade based on lemon and garlic offers the skewers a special flavor, keeping it soft and smooth, even if they are well browned on the outside.
The Latin cuisines of the world are dominated by passion and great flavor, but I love Brazilian cuisine in particular because it originally combines the Iberian culinary tradition and African ancestral mystery. We will make this recipe as a Latin statement on Valentine's Day, to provide a touch of exoticism in this special day.
Ingredients:
-2 chicken hearts packages
-1 lemon
-2-3 cloves of garlic
-sea salt
-olive-oil
-half a cup of hot water
Wash the chicken hearts and leak them.
Grind the garlic and rub it with a teaspoon of salt. You will get a paste of garlic. Add hot water to get a sauce. Let cool slightly.
Add lemon juice and a tablespoon of olive oil.
Put the chicken hearts in lemon sauce with garlic and leave them for an hour to marinate.
Put the wooden sticks in a pot with cold water and let it absorb more water (cold not to burn). Then stick them in the hearts and let them sit in the marinate for another 15 minutes.
Heat the grill, smear it with little oil, and put the skewers on the grill.
Roll them often, to not get burned, just to be browned nicely.
Sprinkle often with marinade, while they are frying.
The marinade will keep them juicy.
They are ready within minutes. Serve warm.
You can wrap the sticks' ends with foil for a more festive aspect. Sprinkle fresh rosemary for decoration, just when serving.
Serve with Portuguese potatoes, butter and rosemary ("Batatas ao murro").
